That is the question I get asked the most lately. The answer depends on what the person asking the question needs. If the question is asked because someone wants to buy a house at a real steal, then I have to let them know that no one will know when the market bottoms out until the prices start going up again. In some areas, that is already happening. The second factor dealing with that question deals with where the person wants to buy a house. In certain areas house prices are higher than you would think. Also, some types of housing are selling faster than others. It also depends on the price range. First time home buyers are still getting good deals but the houses they are buying are for the most part, selling like hot cakes. So if you were to ask me in general when is the best time to buy a house, actually, most of the time, my answer will turn out to be, all things considered, with interest rates low and prices low, the time to buy is NOW!
This Morning I was fortunate enough to meet the new U of M President. I also heard him answer some very tough questions at a forum two days ago. As I was listening to him, I thought, “It’s as if he has graduated from Toastmasters, learned the English language from Shakespeare, and learned how to pinpoint the answer to a major issue before you can finish explaining the problem!” I think we will watch in awe, the improvements that he will make at that school!
A few years ago when I was 24, (so lets say six years ago?) I met Nick Nolte at a party.
He was so dreamy. I could look into those handsome eyes all night long. We talked a little about home life and friends. I think my meeting him left such a wonderful impression on him. I know it sure did me. I left that party on cloud nine. I have always been able to picture those handsome eyes perfectly in my head.
I must have really touched him because from that point on he has never quite been the same…
I think if he would have stuck with me at least he would have had a better chance for this…
Oh well Nick. You had your chance…
Raising the Bar in Real Estate
Here is a picture of our kids with two friends, swimming in Lake Minnetonka. Now that it is the beginning of Spring, I am getting impatient for warm Summer days, drifting on a float, day dreaming, and splashing in the water. I think this picture was taken when we rented a cabin on Big Island on Lake Minnetonka.
Not too long ago, my dear brother Mick roasted a pig for my father and many of his friends and relatives. It was for my father’s Birthday party. He had just turned ninety years old! Everyone had a great time. Now when my father says he won’t buy green bananas, I tell him he certaintly can because we are going to have another pig roast for him next year, and for many years thereafter! I think he will live forever because he is in excellent health, and he walks two or three miles at a time. Here’s to Miles walking for miles!!!!
The Lake Minnetonka Conservation District held a meeting last week to listen to lakeshore owners comments concerning the potential restricting of docks. From the dozens of people I have talked to about this issue, one of the strongest reactions was, “How on earth can they expect people to share docks? I must say, as a realtor, I know that if that happens, those property values will certainly go down! The recent article in the Star Tribune is a most read. If you want some entertainment, read the comments also. Although I could not attend the meeting on Wednesday, I understand the overall opinion from the lakeshore owners was to leave the docks the way they currently are.

Raising the Bar in Real Estate
Everyone is anxious for the ice to be off the lake. We live in an area where we get cabin fever at this time of the year and we just can’t wait for one of the first signs of spring; the ice totally melting off the lake.
Many people try to predict the exact date, people have “Ice Off” parties, and the winter blaas just seem to melt away along with the ice!
So I’m starting my taxes and it’s a little overwhelming. When you have your own business, and when you are your own business, it seems to take a long time to go through all the paperwork to get your taxes to the accountant. I think I will just go take a nap!
If you want to move off the lake, it is easier to just move yourself, not your house too!
The phone is starting to ring again. For a few months, I felt like the Matag repair man. I couldn’t figure out why my phone wasn’t ringing. Were there no sellers or buyers out there that needed my help? I just couldn’t figure it out. Then, last month, my phone started to ring again. Sellers were talking about wanting to listen to me about price. Buyers were thinking the bottom was here, or at least near, and they wanted in. I am “back in the saddle again.” Yea!! Spring has indeed Sprung!!
