Strange House

I found a few pictures of some other strange houses.

This first one looks as if it is made up of cargo containers. I would be afraid to stand so close to the windows or put any heavy furniture in that room.  I also would have built it right on the edge of the water so the top would hang right over the water.

This next house is very precariously placed.  I would hate to be sleep-walking around the yard.  I think it would be cool to have transparent floors so you could watch the boats go by.

Beyonce in town!

Beyonce Knowles was in town tonight at the Target Center.  I didn’t get to go see her but I would have loved to!  She is Sacha Fierce!  I loved her in dreamgirls.  It was such a wonderful show.

At the concert, fellow soul songstress, and sister, Solange joined Beyonce as a special guest.

Beyonce always gives a lot to charities.  The show was to benefit the Charles & Phyllis Newman Foundation and the Knowles Family charitable organization, The Survivor Foundation.

Fun things to do in Minneapolis

There are so many fun activities to do in the twin-cities in the summer.  I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy the fireworks over the fourth.  On Sat and Sun at 7:00 pm  – 8:00 pm South of the Broadway Bridge, near 17th Avenue on West River Parkway The Twin Cities River Rats Water Ski Show Team will perform free, hour-long water ski shows on the Mississippi River on Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th, at 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM each day.

This is a great event for budget conscious families.

Don’t forget, the Minneapolis Aquatennial is fast approaching as well.

I am working on my milk-carton boat as we speak.  Ok, that’s not true, but I do like to get out and see all the creative entries!  Another must-see event for the twin-cities enthusiasts.

On Sat July 25th is the big fireworks show.  This is the best display of fireworks you will see all year!  It is the largest annual fireworks show west of the Mississippi River, and the fourth largest annual fireworks show in the United States!  So if you like loud booms and bright lights, get out there and check it out!

When will the ice be off Lake Minnetonka? Ice melting off a lake means spring and melts away spring fever.

Everyone is anxious for the ice to be off the lake. We live in an area where we get cabin fever at this time of the year and we just can’t wait for one of the first signs of spring; the ice totally melting off the lake.

Many people try to predict the exact date, people have “Ice Off” parties, and the winter blaas just seem to melt away along with the ice!

It is tax time. Deductions, exclusions, rebates, expenses, can I just get an extension?

I’m over my head. It’s tax time!

So I’m starting my taxes and it’s a little overwhelming. When you have your own business, and when you are your own business, it seems to take a long time to go through all the paperwork to get your taxes to the accountant. I think I will just go take a nap!

The phone is starting to ring again

The phone is starting to ring again. For a few months, I felt like the Matag repair man. I couldn’t figure out why my phone wasn’t ringing. Were there no sellers or buyers out there that needed my help? I just couldn’t figure it out. Then, last month, my phone started to ring again. Sellers were talking about wanting to listen to me about price. Buyers were thinking the bottom was here, or at least near, and they wanted in. I am “back in the saddle again.” Yea!! Spring has indeed Sprung!!

Small houses are cozy, big houses provide privacy

Are you comfortable with the size of your house? I am just wondering because I have listed a beautiful house on Lake Minnetonka, close to Wayzata, Minnesota and last weekend I showed it to a nice family. They were concerned because the house was a little bit smaller than the one they live in now. They weren’t sure if they would be comfortable with less space. I have dealt with so many buyers who think they know just how many square feet they want in their new house. They know that their present house is too small or too big. But sometimes they find the perfect house, that has the pool, the big deck, but it is much smaller or bigger than they predicted they wanted. They move in and discover the house to be cozy, if it’s smaller, or provides more privacy, if it’s bigger.

But then, I wonder if anyone ever moves into their house and declares, “this is not right. I want to return it for another size.”

Memorial Day weekend, Good time to buy a house?

I have sold three houses over past Memorial Day weekends, so if you think Realtors typically don’t work this weekend, you are wrong. The weather is supposed to be great for the next few days. There are many wonderful bargains to buy. If you want to buy a house on Lake Minnetonka, I know of many wonderful opportunities.

The Distinctive Homes waterfront tour last week was a total success. All houses that have direct or deeded lakeshore were on the tour. The property I had open was a beautiful lot on Lake Minnetonka, and many people seemed quite interested in it. 

Strange House of the Day

I love this one! Its a museum turned upside-down. It looks as if some giant monster picked this building up and dropped it on its head. What a great idea.

This place is called wonderworks and its located in orlando florida. You can see a complete animation of the house being “placed” at the wonderworks website.

This is a really great example of some amazing architecture. What an incredible attraction! I hope to visit someday.
